Hiring Intentions Results: Apr-Jun Quarter
The results are in for Edge Recruitment’s Quarterly Hiring Intentions Survey for the April – June 2014 quarter. Conducted over the past month the survey provides a forecasting snapshot of employment prospects in the property industry.
With respondents across building & construction, engineering, facilities management, state government, residential agency and shopping centre management, a good cross section of the property industry is represented. The majority of organisations – over 57% - indicated that they predict no change to staffing levels running up to the end of the financial year. This is similar to the results from the same survey last quarter.
Interestingly, 21% of organisations said they would increase staff numbers. Of those that intend to increase their workforce, 47% said it would be on a permanent basis, with just over 33% of this group opting for temporary staff and 20% choosing fixed term contracts. Coincidently 21% of respondents said they would decrease staff numbers, a potential area of concern as it is up from 10% in the last survey.
Edge Director Jane Carey says ‘With the state election completed and a new ministry selected we hope that there are some positive signs ahead for continued improvement in the property industry.’
